Here’s another unpublished comic from my abandoned Greek myths project. I’ve already posted my comics about Pygmalion and Persephone. This one is about King Midas.
Once again Michael Neno did the excellent coloring here, truly making everything look like it’s from a mythical world. However, this is not a comic I love. The pacing is off (clearly I had one more panel to play with), and the dialogue is poor. I also noticed that the line work is muddy—perhaps it was a scanning issue, or it could be that my inking wasn’t up to snuff for a few days. I’ve learned a lot since then.
Enjoy!
I like your version of King Midas! There's a sweetness in it that isn't evident in the original - and the drawing where he's tossing down all of his riches to the people is just awesome, especially the little details like his daughter peeking over the edge of the railing and the peasant proudly sporting the crown. Very cool.
