I never used Goodreads, but was curious about keeping track of my reading habits, so I started keeping a list of books I'd completed in April, 2024. Since then I've read 184 books, most of which were recommended by friends and family members.

My copy of "Pizza, Pickles, and Apple Pie" arrived the day before yesterday and it is a lot of fun. I've been reading it aloud to my invalid fil and he is both fascinated and amused. Eventually I'll be gifting it to my youngest granddaughter. 😁

Thank you for reading! I'm glad they like it! There's a sequel - "Checkups, Shots, and Robots" if they are interested. It's about the history of trips to the doctor for all sorts of ailments.

I noticed the sequel and am considering it for myself and my granddaughter. My father-in-law hates shots with a passion, and doctors are a very close second, so it would probably be a very hard sell for him (he has too many comorbidities to live independently and is understandably sick and tired of all things medical), but I find medicine and diseases to be fascinating (luckily for him, since I'm his primary caregiver). You have a playful way of imparting interesting information!

I also never used Goodreads! (Except when looking for reviews and it comes up in search results.) I keep a manual reading list in my bullet journal, and it gets populated by things I come across from friends, podcasts, articles, or my occasional browse of my local library’s new reads section, or bookstore’s staff recommendations.

Totally see how Goodreads could become a to-do list. Or really how any reading list can become a to-do list. I strike items that feel like they are more of a to-do, if they’ve been on the list a while and never seem to get picked.

For me, reading is first and foremost a pleasure. It's my favorite pastime!
